Redondo Beach Performing Arts Center

Located just 15 minutes from our hotel, the Redondo Beach Performing Arts Center is the crown jewel of the South Bay arts scene. With a new opulent, modern grand lobby, featuring a black Indian slate exterior, a granite water feature, stainless steel and cherry wood accents and a 21-feet high cherry ceiling, the 1,457-seat theatre is home to three prominent and highly successful presenters: the Distinguished Speaker Series, the Los Angeles Ballet and Kala Koa Entertainment.

King's Harbor & Redondo Beach Pier

This large saltwater lagoon offering trained lifeguard supervision is a great place for swimming. The Lagoon has a large sand area for sunbathing, children's play equipment, snack bar facilities provided by Ruby's Restaurant, and volleyball courts with a grassed area and luau shelter for day and evening proceedings.

The L.A. Conservation Corps has operated and managed the marine conservation and education programs at this hands-on science center located in the City of Redondo Beach since 1997. Each year, SEA Lab staff, corps members and volunteers teach schoolchildren and visitors about marine life and the significance of defending our oceans.

Wilderness Park

Hopkins Wilderness Park has been open since 1977 as a center for camping, nature study, and conservation. A large, shady wilderness park with self-guided nature walks and two large ponds with ducks, turtles, fish, and frogs it also features streams, a visitors' center, an amphitheater, picnic tables, cooking areas, and overnight camping.

Whale Watching

One of Redondo Beach's biggest attractions is its whale watching tours, hosted by Voyager Excursions (voyagerexcursions.com). Each season showcases different whale species, as most have migration periods during the same time each year. On winter-season tours, gray whales are sighted most frequently, as this species' annual migration takes place from December to April. In summer, passengers can see blue whales during their annual migration from August to October. Tours depart twice daily at 10am and 1:30pm from the Redondo Beach Marina. The tour operators recommend passengers arrive at least 15 minutes prior to departure time.

With a stuffed and mounted great white shark, bits and bobs to purchase such as fake Peso notes pretending Japan ruled Mexico for a period of time, polished stones and sea shells, novelty lamps in the shape of shark teeth, Shark Attack is part carnival of oddities, part souvenir store.

Redondo Beach Castle

At the Redondo Beach Castle, be prepared for surprises. Hosting a monthly Entertainment Night, open to the public and featuring magicians, musical performances, dancers and much more put on by the two owners, themselves magicians. Performances are streamed live online so if you cannot make it in person you can share the magic from afar. It also hosts fundraisers for schools, charitable organizations and communities from around the world.
